What you need to know about the Government Housing Subsidy Programmes
Question :1. Why do we need this Communique?
Answer :The main aim of this Housing Communique, in particular this edition, is to apprise the housing beneficiaries within the Province of the available housing subsidy programmes they should be accessing from Government to improve the quality of their lives, this including how they should go about applying for these.
Question :2. Who is eligible for a Housing Subsidy?
Answer :Beneficiaries with a household income of not more than R3 500,00 per month and who have not owned a fixed residential property can apply for the housing subsidy and use it to meet their housing needs.
Question :3. How does one apply for a Government Housing Subsidy?
Answer :When a beneficiary applies, one is required to produce a:
• Republic of South Africa Identity Document.
• Spouse R.S.A. Identity Document.
• Proof of income, if working (salary slip).
With the above documents at hand, a beneficiary can visit a:
• Local Municipality Office; or
• Provincial Department of Housing Office.
Question :4. Who must contribute R2 479,00?
Answer :The objective of the R2 479,00 contribution were to ensure that:
• There is Subsidy Beneficiary participation in the solving of their housing needs.
• A culture of saving for own needs is instilled in targeted beneficiaries.
• The real value of the assets that have been provided through housing subsidy is realised and safe-guarded.
Answer :The following are note required to contribute:
• The Aged (earning less than R800,00 per month).
• People with Disabilities (earning less than R800,00 per month).
• The health stricken (earning less than R800,00 per month).
• Beneficiaries of an approved People’s Housing Process (PHP).
• Beneficiaries who are assisted through an Emergency Housing Programme.read more
